Common questions & answers

What is the right age to begin training your puppy?

It is recommended you start your puppy’s training at 12 weeks old. You are more than welcome to reach out to us ahead of this time to get tips and recommendations from us, but the first Puppy Program visit cannot take place until the puppy is at least 12 weeks old.

The duration of the Puppy Program visit is usually 60-90 minutes. Jose will go into deep detail about how to communicate with your dog properly, setting boundaries, and how to address problem behaviors.

Jose will provide his professional recommendations and experience to go over the following topics: Owner leadership, Kennel training, Potty training, Setting boundaries, Basic obedience commands, Puppy behaviors (whining, jumping, nipping), Socialization, Leash and collars, Kids in the home, Puppy gates, Puppy food and bowl types, Toys and bones, Daycare and dog parks.

It’s normal for dogs to take time to adjust, especially because they are so young. Consistency and patience is key, and as you continue reinforcing the techniques we discussed, you’ll start seeing improvements.

Once the training is complete, you’ll be well-equipped to continue managing your puppy’s behavior on your own. You’ll have learned techniques to address specific challenges and maintain progress. Some owners may choose to enroll in group classes to reinforce training or sign up for a board-in training program. We also provide guidance on how to handle future challenges, keeping your pup on track for a happy, well-behaved relationship.
